It's Andrea again,
New year, new favourites! I thought this would be a great time to start documenting and sharing what I enjoyed throughout the months. It's been a wild ride post-holiday season but, I'm glad to say that I'm settling into the 2017 grind. Here are a few things that made it to my list:
Song: Shy Girls - Arrest Me ft. Tei Shi (Noah Breakfast Remix)
3:31 minutes of pure melodic indulgence. When I came across this song on Spotify I instantly re-considered upgrading to premium JUST so I can have this song on repeat. It's definitely a 'feeling myself' kind of song if you know what I mean. Lyrics are primarily dominated by the featured female artist with heavy synths, dynamic layering of textual sounds, and a sweet ass bass in the background to keep you nodding your head all night.
Album: The Altar - Banks
Sometimes we forget how fragmented the music industry is. Listening to a full album in it's chronological order allows you to listen to the story that the artist/band intended to tell. With that being said, every song on Bank's new album 'The Altar' contributes to a complex and climatic narrative. Her ability to produce poetry and raw emotion in such a compelling and creative composition really shines through in her second album. My favourite part of this album is when the outro of track 7, Weaker Girl seamlessly transitions into the next track. You wouldn't had the chance to experienced that artistic element otherwise.
Instagram blogger: @Christinalau_
Her fashion forward lifestyle in the bustling streets of New York City are #goals. I love her photography and variety of photos on her feed. Major inspo alert!
Shoes: Hibou Chelsea Boot
With the cold Canadian winters and rainy Vancouver weather, this was an essential to have amongst my shoe collection. These are so comfy and easily pairs with everything in my closet.
ART / DESIGN
Dimensional UI - Fyn Ng
User interface design is all about making a user's experience smooth and enjoyable. These 3D interfaces might not be the most ideal but, it challenges the way we think about our experience and how the information behind the screens translate into the real and physical world. For designers, it's always great to keep in mind that we should be designing with the intent to make meaningful experiences.
Urban Decay Ultimate Palette
Best. Christmas. Gift. EVER. I use this palette religiously from a day-to-day basis. It's versatility went beyond my expectations. I can go from a work appropriate eye look to a night out with the girls using the shades provided!
You gotta learn how to learn again. I started a new internship in the beginning of January and it really changed my outlook on how I manage to pick up new things. Check out my latest blog : 7 Ways Internships Are Like All You Can Eat Buffets to see my perspective!
